FAQs

Materials Needed:

  • Putty Knife (or preferred scraping tool)
  • Bucket
  • Hose, pressure washer, and/or warm water (water not to exceed 200° F ) WARNING: Hot and/or boiling water will cause the plastic to warp.

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Remove the frame from the hive.
  2. At your work station, brush off all of the dead bees and other loose debris.
  3. Using your scrapper, use minimum amount of force required to scrape off the old comb and wax. Scrape in long strokes, always working from top to bottom. NOTE: Using too much force may damage the hive.
  4. Discard these scrapping into your bucket. Don’t worry if you do not get it all. a. These scraps can be melted down later for other uses.
  5. Next, use the hose (or pressure washer) to spray down the frames. This will remove additional comb and debris. If using warm water, make sure the water does NOT exceed 200°F . WARNING: Hot and/or boiling
water will cause the plastic to warp.
  6. Remove excess water and reinsert frames into your supers.
  7. If desired, let the washed frames air dry and coat with a thin layer of wax before re-introducing them to your hive.

Your products should work quite well, even in the hottest, dampest, or coldest conditions. Our frames are built to withstand temperatures of 210°F. Steam forms at 212°F, therefore our frames will begin to distort/deflect when subjected to these conditions for extended periods of time.

No there is not, two products are exactly the same with the exception of their color. However, some people prefer the black, claiming it is easier to see the larvae in the frames. White makes honey inspection easy.

Primarily used for managing varroa mites as part of an integrated pest management strategy. The bright green is just for easy identification.

My bees love these frames!

Excellent product, but expensive shipping

The frames arrived here in Ohio from California in a week or so. I installed them and in about 2-3 weeks they are very well drawn, some close to be complete, some less, but very even, beautiful comb. I’ve had plastic frames from another manufacturer (yellow color), and did not have such quick success! I don’t know what you do differently, but it definitely works. Price of the product is also better per unit. My only complaint was the shipping cost, which offset the total price quite a bit. But it was worth it. I guess, it’s a total winner for someone who can pick them up locally in CA. Thank you!

Drone Comb Honey Supers

For me the large cells always require more time to get drawn out than standard cell size, but after that the mediums are amazing as honey-only frames above a queen excluder. And after all, well-maintained honey super frames last a lifetime!

Perfection

I haven't used them yet but they look great.
And smell like wax!
Most foundations say they have wax but these actually DO have wax on them!
